Does your child love to create stories or want to develop their writing skills? Dymocks Tutoring’s Creative Writing Workshop: The Moral of the Story is the perfect blend of fun and education. In this interactive and engaging session, students in Years 3–6 will explore the conventions of storytelling through fables, a timeless and captivating literary form.

Over three exciting hours, students will learn to craft their own moral-filled tales while participating in storytelling games, sharing ideas with peers, and illustrating their narratives. Whether your child is a budding author or simply eager to enhance their English skills, this workshop will inspire creativity and provide valuable tools for their writing journey.

What They’ll Learn:

• Story Planning: Understand how to develop a structured narrative centred on moral messages.
• Symbolism: Explore how fables use symbolism, especially through animal characters, to convey deeper meanings.
• Descriptive Writing: Master the skill of “show not tell” to bring stories and characters to life.
• Collaborative Creativity: Share ideas for characters, settings, and plot complications while building confidence.

• 9:40am: Activity 1: Fables and Animal Symbolism – Explore how to use symbolism in storytelling.
• 10:30am: Break – Refresh and recharge with a snack.
• 10:40am: Activity 2: Unjumbling and Performing Fables – Collaboratively piece together fables and bring them to life.
• 11:30am: Break – Refuel for the final session.
• 11:40am: Activity 3: Planning and Writing Fables – Craft your own story with a strong moral and vibrant illustrations.
• 12:30pm: Pickup – Take home your completed story and newfound skills!
